How we create the ultimate home cinemas for our clients

Some of our most unique and luxurious designs are our cinema rooms. It’s a room that brings great joy and becomes a central feature when socialising and relaxing at home. However, the design and installation of a cinema entertainment space can be a fine art with many technical challenges to take into consideration. If you have thought about incorporating a dedicated cinema space into your own home, we have collated all the elements which we use to make the best experience for our clients, to show you how amazing it can be!

  1. Soundproofing and Acoustics

One of the most important aspects of a home cinema is the acoustics of the room and its sound proofing qualities. With a good quality sound system, you will need acoustic solutions to absorb any soundwaves to ensure that other parts of the house are not disturbed. Surfaces need to absorb the sound. We acheive this either by using acoustic boards, thick carpet, fabric wall panelling or insulation. This will also add to the sound quality you will experience from inside the room when watching a film.

2. Screen and Sound Quality

As a minimum you will need a large, high-quality screen as the focal point for your room. You can either opt for a projector or a TV screen, both come with their pros and cons. It may sound obvious but there is a fine science to choosing the right screen size and quality whilst optimising this with correctly positioned seating. We would also recommend investing in a technology specialist who will able to design and install an all inclusive audio, media, lighting and sound system to your specific requirements. We have been working with ‘Art of Integration’ to create beautiful cinemas with state-of-the-art media and sound systems. They work with you at every step, from tailoring the surround sound to your specific layout to making sure you have the correct connections and cabling. Using a specialist for the technical side if things means that the process if much less stressful for you and will guarantee that you enjoy your cinema experience.

3. Comfortable seating

Comfort is everything when sitting down to enjoy a movie. Elements we consider include integrated headrests, reclining options, which can be customised for each viewer, and sumptuous sofa fabrics and cushions. Creating a platform for seating allows for a better viewing angle and means that we can incorporate staggered seating to maximise the number of people that can use the space. We also like our sofa’s to be stainproof to make sure that you don’t have to worry about any inevitable spills.

4. One remote control for everything

With so much technology in one room is can be difficult to keep track of all of the systems you will need to use, to make the most of your cinema. Using one control for everything is a huge bonus and ensures you have a seamless, stress-free experience. We would incorporate automated black out blinds, lighting schemes, air conditioning, as well as having all the media options on the same remote which can be controlled from the comfort of your seat. This level of automation will sit your cinema room above the rest and will be the envy of all your neighbours!

5. Lighting

Even though your focus is primarily on the screen, lighting goes a long way in creating the ultimate luxurious and immersive atmosphere to enjoy a film. LED strip lighting, uplighting and tasklighting automated in different schemes can help to zone a cinema space and really immerse you into the film. We design bespoke lighting schemes for all our cinema rooms and take into account how you will use the room, furniture placement and visual effects.

6. Entertainment and extras

Although we love our cinema spaces we go that little big further to make the perfect space for you to entertain. We have previously incorporated pool tables and bar areas into the rooms which adds another element of fun and are all the better for socialising in. This creates an all-inclusive experience for you and your guests, meaning that you don’t even need to leave the room to carry on the party.
